Barcelona defender’s agent has recommended 19-year-old midfielder to the club

Barcelona are looking at several options in the market right now as they look to find an ideal long-term replacement for the departed Sergio Busquets.

Oriol Romeu has emerged as one of the cost-effective alternatives, but the club are looking at other, preferably youngster, options in the market. One of them is Oscar Zambrano, who has emerged as a target for the club lately.

Currently plying his trade for Ecuadorian club LDU Quito, Zambrano might not be a household name in football. But he has been making waves in his native Ecuador, thanks to his performances in the Quito first team and even the Ecuadorian youth team.

In light of speculations linking Zambrano to a move to Camp Nou, SPORT has come up with a fresh update, suggesting it was Ronald Araujo’s agent, who had offered Barça the chance to sign the young defensive midfielder.

Keeping in mind Barcelona’s economic situation, Edmundo Kabchi, who is well aware of Zambrano’s development, had put the youngster’s name on the table.

Barcelona scouts, who were on a mission to unearth hidden gems in South America, have also filed positive reports on the player. As a result, the club are considering a move for the Quito starlet as part of their plans to reinforce the defensive unit.

However, it must be noted that Barcelona are not targeting Zambrano as a first-team regular. The club are looking for a player who can offer immediate performances and preferably has some experience on his belt.

That is why Zambrano is likely to be considered as a reserve team player, even if he joins the club this summer. If the youngster can continue his rapid development, he may have a chance of ascending to the senior side in the near future.
